Solarcentury launches new ‘universal’ solar electric roof tile
Solarcentury’s British designed C21e tile and slate products, provide a chance for more UK homes to go solar in style. The company first launched its Queen’s award winning C21e solar electric roof tile in 2005. It’s C21e slate followed in 2008, with the products now on thousands of homes in the UK with growing demand in Italy and France.
Martin White, Product Manager, Solarcentury said:
“Solarcentury’s C21e solar electric roof tiles have proved very popular with home owners and house builders. Our aim is to make solar simple to specify, install and own; with our new C21e plain tile, we can help even more people go solar every day. The Feed-in tariff has boosted demand for solar significantly, and we see that set to continue as conventional energy prices rise. National and local solar installers and roofing contractors have adopted C21e, due to its design flexibility and ease of installation, and we see that set to continue in 2012 as customers seek out products that deliver good looking returns, without compromising on quality.”
Compatible with single and double camber plain tiles, the new system can be fitted alongside plain roof tiles from a wide variety of manufacturers, suitable for both new build and retrofit installations. Each tile is 47w, with 54 tiles forming a typical 2.5kWp system – generating 2,150kWh per year. Available in pre-engineered system sizes of 1-4kWp, an average 2.5kWp system replaces 200 tiles, covering less than 20 m2 of roof space. Systems above 4kWp can also be easily designed for larger roofs. The modular nature of C21e systems, with the ability to work around roof obstructions such as roof windows, roof vents and dormer windows, can help maximise the use of the available roof space.
Solarcentury will be unveiling the new product at this year’s Ecobuild, 20-22 March at ExCel, the world’s largest green building show. As the UK’s leading solar company, it is running the exhibition’s Solar Hub, providing installers, housebuilders and self builders with a chance to see the latest solar products, listen to expert speakers and receive practical solar information and guidance.
