Solarcentury creates over 100 new jobs in Talayuela, Spain
Wednesday 20 February 2019, Spain: Solarcentury, the global solar power company, has announced that it will create a minimum of 100 new engineering and construction jobs in the Extremadura region of Talayuela in Spain (see map below). The company is recruiting to build one of the most powerful solar farms in Europe over the next year, needed to power 150,000 homes in the area with renewable electricity.
The Managing Director of Solarcentury Iberia, José Miguel Ferrer, met the Mayor of Talayuela (Cáceres), Raúl Miranda, today at the Council offices to sign a Local Employment Agreement for its “Talayuela Solar” project. This Local Employment Agreement will enable the recruitment of a minimum of 100 workers in the town to carry out works on the new 300 MWp solar farm owned by Encavis AG and Solarcentury.
“Talayuela Town Council is unrelenting in its efforts to attract new capital investors to our district in order to foster local employment, one proof of this being the Local Employment Agreement that we are now signing with Solarcentury”, noted the Mayor of Talayuela, Raúl Miranda.
José Miguel Ferrer, the Managing Director of Solarcentury Iberia, declared that “Talayuela Solar represents the largest project undertaken to date by Solarcentury worldwide and a source of long-term direct and indirect job creation for the region”.
It is anticipated that the new, 300 MWp photovoltaic plant will connect to the network during the first half of 2020 and will represent investment exceeding one hundred million Euro.
The electricity generated by the solar plant will initially be acquired by an institution, for a fixed price over a period of ten years. “Talayuela Solar” was initially developed by KOMPA SOLAIRE SASU and GENIA GLOBAL ENERGY SOLUTIONS, S.L., engineering firms that develop and foster renewable energy projects.
