Solarcentury completes the connection to the grid for Cabrera Solar

Valencia, 16 July 2019: Solarcentury, the global integrated solar power company, has completed the necessary engineering works for the connection to the grid for the four 50MW plants it has in Alcala de Guadaira, Seville (Andalusia). Together, these projects are known as Cabrera Solar. The company plans to begin construction work on the projects after the summer.

The project, which a few months ago obtained the Declaration of Public Utility (DUP) from the Regional Government of Andalusia, is made up four solar farms, each of 50 megawatts. Cabrera Solar will be one of the largest solar projects in Spain.

“Having completed the grid connection work, construction of the group of projects known as “Cabrera Solar” will begin shortly, and we expect this to be completed by September 2020.  Cabrera Solar will become one of the largest solar energy generation projects in Spain and among the most important in Europe, with a financing model without public subsidies, generating employment, respecting the environment and boosting the regional economy”, explained José Miguel Ferrer, General Manager of Iberia for Solarcentury.

Cabrera Solar has been developed by Solarcentury, with the collaboration of its local partner Texla.

Cabrera Solar will be built without subsidies and is based on the power purchase agreement (PPA) model. This makes it one of the most innovative projects in the country thanks to its high efficiency and respect for the environment.
