Solarcentury inspires Britain, according to the London Stock Exchange

Solarcentury has been identified in the London Stock Exchange’s (LSE) ‘1000 companies to Inspire Britain in 2015’. The list identifies the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) in the UK.

Solarcentury is the only pure play solar brand listed and appears alongside well-known brands and leading fast-growth companies including Notonthehighstreet.com, Cath Kidston, Itsu, Brompton, Orlebar Brown, Make It Cheaper, Metro Bank and Unruly.

To be included in the list, companies needed to achieve consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years, significantly outperforming their industry peers. The 1,000 businesses in this year’s rankings have, on average, more than doubled their revenue in the past four years, with the top 500 more than tripling their revenue – and have been identified as major contributors to the UK’s economic growth and job creation. In addition, companies have to demonstrate an excellent credit rating and strong balance sheet. More detail on the methodology can be found in the report online.

Neil Perry, CFO at Solarcentury commented, “We are pleased to be acknowledged for our financial strength, and healthy balance sheet. Solarcentury is projected to double its revenue this year to over £200m and is expecting record profitability.

Being recognised by the LSE for our track record helps build further credibility for Solarcentury. This is significant as we export our engineering expertise to deliver solar projects in emerging markets while maintaining our healthy business in the UK. And our growth is still underpinned by our long-term commitment to solar, which includes promoting the adoption of solar in the fight against climate change.”

The LSE produces the list to showcase and support the UK’s dynamic SMEs. The 1000 businesses have a unique capacity to innovate and create new jobs, in turn spearheading the revival of the UK economy.

Business secretary Vince Cable commented, “These 1,000 exemplary businesses show how small and mid-sized enterprises punch above their weight – more than doubling their revenue over the past four years to deliver growth and create jobs across the UK.”

It is the LSE’s second index of the UK’s 1,000 most dynamic and fastest growing small and medium-sized enterprises – the “1,000 companies to inspire Britain”.
