IJsseldijk solar farm generating electricity
Construction of Dutch solar farm, Apeldoorn IJsseldijk, was completed and connected to the grid this March. IJsseldijk will generate approximately 3.9 MWh of clean electricity per year; enough to power over 1,300 households.
The solar farm is located in the Apeldoorn region and covers 4.2 hectares, at a space bordered by trees and hawthorn hedges, and with grazing sheep. The solar farm has been designed specifically to enhance wildlife.
IJsseldijk solar farm will prevent 47,000 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted, over its lifespan.
Peter van den Groenendaal of Solarcentury said: “The launch of Apeldoorn IJsseldijk solar farm is another great step towards making our energy supply more sustainable. We’re proud to have developed such a beautifully landscaped solar farm, working closely with local residents.”
