Solarcentury to develop 362MWp of solar near Valderrey, Spain
Solarcentury is in the early stages of developing two solar projects in the region of León in the North West of Spain. Today, Jose Miguel Ferrer – General Manager for Solarcentury in Iberia – introduced the projects to the local community and outlined the benefits that the solar projects will bring. Following a successful permitting process, Solarcentury expects to create 400 jobs and for the projects to help revitalise the area as well as contributing clean, green power to the grid. Total investment in the projects will be in the region of 254 million euros.
Somozas Solar and Maragato Solar are each planned to be 181.35 MWp. The projects are at an early stage and will be approved at the national level. In January 2020, Solarcentury received permission to connect the projects to the network at the Montearenas 200kV substation. The development process is expected to take a further three years.
The projects are part of Solarcentury’s 1.5GWp solar pipeline in Spain and 6GWp global pipeline.
