Solarcentury appoints new Global Head of Origination
29 October 2019, London: Solarcentury, the global integrated solar power company, has appointed Enrico Ambrosini as Global Head of Origination. Enrico will lead the development of Solarcentury’s energy management and power offtake agreements in a variety of countries to enhance returns and optimise the company’s international solar assets including its hedging and trading strategies.
Enrico, who will be based in Solarcentury’s London headquarters, joins the company from global commodities trader, TrailStone, and brings over 15 years’ trading experience in the energy sector including roles at Deutsche Bank, Noble Group and EDF Trading.
Frans van den Heuvel, CEO of Solarcentury said:
“The appointment of Enrico is a significant milestone for Solarcentury as we increase our asset ownership on a global scale and accelerate our development of international subsidy-free, utility scale solar projects, which will play a vital role in the future global energy mix. We are confident that Enrico’s skills and experience will enhance and build our team’s capabilities, enabling us to manage and maximise the opportunities presented by long-term ownership of generating assets.”
Solarcentury is developing solar projects across four continents and has a pipeline of 5GW. Its subsidy-free development and hybrid solutions encompass Spain, Italy, UK, France, Netherland, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and several African countries.
Enrico Ambrosini, Global Head of Origination at Solarcentury said:
“As the cost of solar and storage has plummeted, the opportunity for subsidy-free solar has grown exponentially. It is now widely predicted that solar will become the dominant energy source globally by 2030. The sector is rapidly moving away from dependence on long-term government subsidies – and therefore this is the right time to develop the capability to manage long-term solar and storage assets on the open market to reduce global carbon emissions.”
