Solarcentury is embarking on “the most exciting stage of its near twenty-year history.”

Following positive media coverage of our international expansion plans in the Guardian, Solarcentury has released the following statement.

As Solarcentury approaches its twentieth anniversary in 2018, we are embarking on the most exciting phase of the company’s history. In particular, we are accelerating our utility-scale solar strategy in multiple overseas markets. This builds further on our expertise, success and long experience as an internationally focused company. The company now has offices in the Netherlands, Germany, Kenya, South Africa, Panama, Chile, and Mexico.

Specifically, our commercial focus as of autumn 2016 has been to allocate more resources to developing our own international pipeline. We are building on solid foundations, including over 1GW in Latin America. We have had our most successful year ever outside of the UK with strong results in Germany and Chile and our first revenues in Mexico. We have also seen an increased volume in hybrid systems, increased volume in the Netherlands and an increasing growth generally in our pipeline outside of the UK. Our focus on rooftop solar, residential (including the IKEA programme and our own multi-award winning solar product range), hybrid and battery storage also remains as strong as ever. The business is healthy with a strong cash position and debt free.

Frans van den Heuvel, CEO of Solarcentury said: “Solarcentury is embarking on the most exciting stage of its near twenty-year history. In particular, our decision to further grow Solarcentury into a serious international utility-scale solar developer in our own right is a massive step forwards for the business and fully in line with our mission to make a positive difference in the fight against climate change. Our strategy, set out five years ago, is also insulating Solarcentury from the negative impacts of sudden changes in UK government policy in our domestic market.”

We will be making a further public statement on our development pipeline later in the year.
